AAA opkaldt 121 ekstraordinære hoteller og resorts til sin liste over Five Diamond hoteller i USA, Canada, Caribien og Mexico i 2018. År for år ændrer listen ikke meget, da hoteller og resorts stræber efter at opretholde denne prestigefyldte betegnelse. Nye vindere i 2018
Hvis antallet af nye hoteller og resorts i en destination viser, at det er varmt, så New York - som tilføjede den højteknologiske (og astronomisk dyre) Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown og The Langham, New York, Femte Avenue med udsigt over Empire State Bygningen viser, at byen er sizzling.
Det eneste varmere rejsemål er Mexico, hvor tre nye resorts blev tilføjet til AAA's 2018 Five-Diamond liste: Grand Luxxe Riviera Maya i Playa del Carmen, Grand Velas Los Cabos og Esperanza An Auberge Resort.

Taber i 2018
Hotelforvaltere på følgende snifter i deres lommetørklæder: Viceroy L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, Four Seasons Hotel Miami og Waldorf-Astoria Chicago er alle faldet ned til Four Diamond-listen (ikke at der er nogen skam på det).
