National Park Week er en årlig uge til fejring og anerkendelse af America's National Parks. Først proklameret i 1991 af præsident George H.W. Bush for at fejre 75-årsdagen for National Park Service, denne uge er en tid til at forny vores passion og engagement i de ressourcer, vi beskytter. Nationalparker giver rekreative oplevelser, muligheder for at lære og vokse og steder i rolige tilfluktssteder. Mange af Washington DCs mest populære turistattraktioner er placeret på National Mall, som er en del af National Park-systemet.
Under National Park Week er adgang til alle National Parks gratis, og en række aktiviteter og programmer er planlagt til at opmuntre besøgende til at udforske de forskellige dyreliv, ikoniske landskaber, pulserende kultur og rige historie fundet i Amerikas nationalparker. Omkring 200 parker mindes Junior Ranger Day med sjove aktiviteter og specielle arrangementer. Næsten hver nationalpark har et Junior Ranger-program - et program for at forbinde børn og familier med den naturlige og kulturelle historie, der findes i nationalparker.
Junior Rangers demonstrerer, at de har det nødvendige for at bevare og forstå betydningen af vores nationale skatte.
